BMWED employee Thomas Tarantella is working on the Norfolk Southern and seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party for the 5th Congressional District of Pennsylvania.

BrotherTarantella was born and raised in the small town of Renovo, Pennsylvania. He has been married 31 years to his wife, Ann Tarantella. Throughout those years they have had three children and now five grandchildren. Thomas spent 22 years in the US Army and during his tenure was a member of the Rapid Deployment Force, a Paratrooper, and a Lite Fighter. He was deployed around the world and was awarded 7 Campaign ribbons, a Bronze Star, 5 Meritorious Service Medals, 4 Army Commendation Medals, 13 Army Achievement Medals, and was honorably discharged in 2002.
Thomas Tarantella states on his campaign web site that he believes it’s time for change:
• when we give companies a tax break for manufacturing overseas
• when we cut the deduction for charitable organizations
• when 900,000 veterans are receiving food stamps
• when we cut food stamps on the working poor
• when the minimum wage for tipped workers is $2.13 per hour
• when we cut funding for meals-on-wheels
• when they can’t work together in Washington for the common good of our country
• when we can’t work together in Washington for the common sense approach to governing
• when wages and salaries now make up the lowest share of national income since 1966
• when the taxpayers are paying enormous amounts to support the impoverished employees of giant companies
Until we change, we must live with the shameful fact that the richest nation on earth has millions of full-time employees earning poverty-level wages, all while the giant corporations they work for are amassing billions of dollars at these workers’ expense.
That is why I’m running, because it’s not if we can win, we must win. They feel safe with their big corporate buddies and their special interest groups. They thought Franklin Roosevelt couldn’t do it with a dime, but he did stop polio. With the support of the people who carry a lunch box, educate our children, volunteer to help the needy, protect our families, and defend our nation, we will have a government of the people, by the people and above all for the people.
It is definitely time for change."
