Existing modes of transportation currently consume more than two thirds of our nation’s oil supply and are responsible for nearly a third of our carbon dioxide emissions.

March 22, 2011 - -     The wealthiest 5% of Americans control 72% of America's financial wealth.  The bottom 80% control only 7% of the nation's financial wealth.  The richest 400 Americans have more combined wealth than the poorer HALF of all Americans.  That means 400 people have more wealth than 150,000,000 people combined.

In light of events in Wisconsin this week, rallies are currently being organized in state capitols across the country to show solidarity with our Wisconsin public sector employees and their unions, as well as raise awareness of the ongoing attacks on working families and the middle class by big business and their political allies.

In the heart of the Great Depression, millions of American workers did something they’d never done before: they joined a union. Emboldened by the passage of the Wagner Act, which made collective bargaining easier, unions organized industries across the country, remaking the economy. Businesses, of course, saw this as grim news.

Today the secret ballots were counted for the Amtrak Contract Survey mailed to our members on December 6, 2010. The question at issue was, generally: 1) Do we continue to bargain with Amtrak and make a decision about settlement after the National Freight bargaining is completed, or; 2) Do we accept Amtrak’s offer of 14-14.

Provided, as information, by the Teamster's Department of Capital Strategies Following is a summary of Class I Rail Carrier earnings for the 3rd quarter of 2010.  CSX and Union Pacific were the first to report, and earnings were so strong they immediately caused investors’ expectations to shoot up so that in-line reports were not sufficient for the rest of the rails.
